Scott Galloway says Melbourne City’s potential to be a “powerhouse” of the Hyundai A-League made it an easy decision to join the club.
One of Adelaide United’s most consistent players in 2018/19, the Reds were hopeful of re-signing the 24-year-old who is equally comfortable at left or right-back.
But Galloway, who stared his Hyundai A-League career at Melbourne Victory, opted to return to Victoria and inked a three-year deal with City.

“I had an option to stay with Adelaide but there was a change of direction there and I thought the opportunity at City was a good one to take,” he said in Fairfax Media.
“Moving around different clubs, you do learn a lot, you grow and mature as a player and as a person, but I felt that City is a club with so much potential.
“I feel it’s only a matter of time before they become the powerhouse of the league, with the backing they have got, the facilities and infrastructure they have.”
City will be Galloway’s fifth Hyundai A-League club since his debut in 2013, having also enjoyed one-year stints at Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix.
He featured in every game for the Reds in 2018/19, scoring the season’s first goal with a stunning long-range hit against Sydney FC in October’s 1-1 draw.
Now with a three-year deal at City, Galloway is hoping to establish himself at one club for a lengthier period of time.
About to head into his seventh season as a professional, Galloway said his history of switching clubs was just the nature of the Hyundai A-League.

“Many players only get offered one-year contracts or short-term deals. You see it every season at every club, 10-15 players come off contract and there is lots of movement,” the Perth-born defender said.
“I signed a two-year deal with Melbourne Victory when I was young, but I felt I had to leave there to get more game time. I did play quite a lot there, but I wanted to play more and a lot of younger players are in that position so they have to move on.”
