After their one all draw against the Wellington Phoenix on Monday, North Queensland head back to the drawing board to solve their scoring problems and keep their slim-finals hopes alive.
The Fury will be desperate to get the full three points when they take on Melbourne Heart on Sunday at AAMI Park.
With only four goals from their last seven matches, goal opportunities not finding the back of the net are all too common for the Fury.
Fury striker David Williams summed up their problem that has prevented them from getting results against a number of teams over the past few games.
“I think we could have finished off the game with a few other chances but that’s the way it goes. It’s something we have lacked the last couple of weeks,” Williams said.
“We have played well but we just can’t finish it which is disappointing because we have the capability but there is just something not there.”
Williams found it hard to put into words how frustrating it was having the capability to put teams away but not be able to convert opportunities into goals.
“It’s hard to explain in words because we have been through this so many times. We haven’t lost too many games by more than one goal.”
Williams wanted to have faith that they could still make the finals after only getting one point from their match against Wellington but said if they couldn’t they would be playing for pride and giving the FFA a reason to keep the club alive.
“So much work and effort has gone into structuring this club and what we’ve been trying to do for the last two years and it’s just a kick up the butt to try and keep us motivated and keep us going.
“We will have extra drive to do what we can in the next couple of games and it’s not over yet but there’s still pride on the line to play for. If we can do that and show that we can be here then we have to show it on the field.”
