E-League competitors Marcus Gomes and Mark Brijeski have been announced as Australia’s first-ever EA Sports FIFA esports representatives to compete at the FIFA eNations Cup in London on April 13 and 14.
Melbourne City FC’s Xbox competitor, Gomes, and Sydney FC’s Playstation competitor, Brijeski, secured their spots on the Australian team after recording the most FIFA Ultimate Team Pro Points of any E-League competitor (on their respective consoles) by the March 27 cut-off date.
Now, Gomes and Brijeski will travel to London where they will vie with 19 other nations (from six confederations) for the FIFA eNations Cup title through a series of Group Stage and Knockout matches.
The Australian team was drawn into Group D alongside Portugal, Russia, Denmark and Netherlands, while 15 more nations were sorted into Groups A, B & C.
Gomes and Brijeski will compete in both individual (1v1) and team (2v2) matches on April 13, before the top two nations from each group will progress to the knockout stage matches on April 14.
The FIFA eNations Cup can be live streamed on FIFA’s digital channels on April 13 and 14, and you can follow the Australian team’s progress via the E-League digital channels.
Gomes was the first EA Sports FIFA player to be signed by a Hyundai A-League club (Melbourne City FC), while Brijeski was a part of the E-League Season 1 championship-winning team (Sydney FC).
