Oriol Riera might be the in-form striker in Western Sydney right now, but he is not the only Wanderers man capable of putting the opposition in a spin.
Equally skilled at beating defenders on the turn is Andy Waite, who was today confirmed to have broken the Guinness World Record for the most power wheelchair spins in a minute.
Waite smashed the previous record of 32 by revolving 120 times in just 60 seconds, with the attempt taking place at half time of the club’s Hyundai A-League clash against Central Coast Mariners in December 2018.

“I was always confident of getting the record,” Waite said at the time, “because the record is only 32 and in my practice, I was getting over 100 most times.
“But I wanted to make sure I got my best record for this one.
A huge thanks to the Wanderers for helping me achieve this, it’s been six years in the making, me going for this record. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to do it, so I really appreciate it.”
Formerly a successful powerchair hockey player, Waite began his powerchair football career in 2011 and was swiftly selected for the Australian team to compete in the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Paris, France, later that year.
In 2013 he was selected for Australia’s Asia Pacific Oceania Cup in Sydney and was named captain for the tournament.
Waite is currently the most capped player in the Wanderers powerchair squad, having helped create the team under the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League club’s name back in 2013.
