Larissa Crummer wants to knock former club Melbourne City off their Westfield W-League perch after switching to a Newcastle Jets side brimming with ambition.
Crummer, 22, was part of three Grand Final-winning squads during her time at City but is now plotting the champions’ downfall.
The Westfield Matildas utility is set to play an important if partially unfamiliar defensive role for Newcastle, who soared to third last season after nearly a decade-long absence from the Finals Series.

Now, as Craig Deans’ side prepare to commence their campaign away to Melbourne Victory in Round 2, expectations have been raised.
“I think we have a good squad and we’re going to really push for that top spot this season. That’s the plan,” Crummer told www.w-league.com.au.
“I still respect City and everything they’ve done, but it would be good if we can raise the trophy at the end of the season.
“We all watched the other W-League games. We wished we were playing but it’s our chance this weekend.
“It’s a new season, I’m playing a new position and at a new club. I’m just excited to get started with the Jets and see how we go as a team this year.”

Raised on the Sunshine Coast, Crummer is back in her element in picturesque Newcastle following three years in Victoria.
The former Westfield W-League Golden Boot winner has adjusted well to her new surrounds.
“I love it,” she said. “The beaches are great, the people are great and the cafes are even better!
“It’s awesome. It’s such a small town. Everyone sort of knows everyone.”
Newcastle’s clash with Victory gets underway at 7:30pm (AEDT) at Lakeside Stadium on Thursday night.
