Caitlin Cooper believes Western Sydney Wanderers can help springboard her back into the Westfield Matildas after returning to the club for the upcoming campaign.
The 30-year-old defender has re-joined the side she formerly skippered following a single season at rivals Sydney FC, with whom she reached the Grand Final.

Capped 10 times by Australia, Cooper is “super excited” to be back at Wanderers as she targets a spot in the top four and a place at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“My personal goals have always been the same and won’t change – be the very best player, team-mate and person I can be and the rest will fall into place,” Cooper said.
“Finals are 110 per cent my goal and in helping create an environment within the team of success, belief and positivity, we will no doubt achieve that this year.
“Aside from that, I’d like to make the World Cup squad for France and I’ll be doing everything I can to make that tour.
“And with the strength of the team around me at the Wanderers, I’ll be pushed to new levels and I will hopefully book myself a ticket on that plane.”
Cooper’s signature caps off a strong week for Western Sydney following the commitments of Erica Halloway, Rachel Lowe, Susan Phonsongkham and Courtney Nevin.
