Roar swoop on Matildas keeper in A-Leagues switch: ‘One of Australia’s best’

Brisbane Roar have added CommBank Matildas goalkeeper Chloe Lincoln to the club’s Ninja A-League ranks, luring the 20-year-old away from Western United for the 2025-26 campaign.

Lincoln signed for Western from Canberra in May 2024 and went on to make 15 appearances under head coach Kat Smith.

A Young Matildas Under-20 World Cup squad member, Lincoln graduated to the senior Matildas squad in October and made her international debut two months later against Chinese Taipei.

But now, Lincoln has swapped green and black for orange, joining Matildas teammates Tameka Yallop and Laini Freier as the third Matildas star in Brisbane’s squad for the 2025-26 Ninja A-League season.

Brisbane head coach Alex Smith welcomed Lincoln to the club as his first new recruit of the off-season.

“I am thrilled to welcome Chloe onboard for next year,” Smith said.

“At such a young age, she already has a lot of experience in the league and also now with the Matildas.

“I believe she will help us play the way we want and accomplish our goals. I am really looking forward to working with her and seeing her continue to improve.

“Brisbane Roar has a history of bringing in top goalkeepers, and Chloe is no different. I am pleased that we have the best young Australian goalkeeper coming to the club.”

Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta described Lincoln as one of the best goalkeepers in the country as he expressed his excitement in welcoming the 20-year-old to the club.

“Brisbane Roar is excited to welcome Chloe to the club and look forward to seeing her hit the ground running.

“Chloe comes to the Roar as one of the Australia’s best goalkeepers and as a CommBank Matilda, she serves as a strong statement of intent as we aim to return to finals football in the Ninja A-League next season.”
