Brosque told to rest

Last-placed Sydney FC’s season has taken another turn for the worse as reports have emerged that star striker Alex Brosque will miss at least the next month with his ongoing groin injury.

After a stellar last season where he helped the Sky Blues claim the Hyundai A-League championship, Brosque has endured a tough campaign with injury this time around.

In the latest twist, Sydney’s Daily Telegraph have reported that the ongoing groin condition Brosque has been suffering since early December has flared up once again and that doctors have told the striker to rest for at least the next month.

If this is the case, then Brosque, a member of Holger Osieck’s provisional 50-man Qantas Socceroos squad for the AFC Asian Cup, will be ruled out of the tournament.

It continues a poor run of luck for Brosque at international level as he was due to play for Australia in Kuwait earlier this year before injuring himself the day before the game, while he also missed the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia in March due to the birth of his first child.
