A different country but same result for A-Leagues legend Joe Montemurro, who guided European juggernaut Lyon to a fourth consecutive Premiere Ligue crown.
Montemurro’s unbeaten Lyon defeated rivals Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 on Saturday (AEST) to continue their stranglehold on women’s French football.
A two-time Ninja A-League champion with Melbourne City, Montemurro has now won league titles in Australia, England (Arsenal), Italy (Juventus) and France amid mounting speculation he is set to become the CommBank Matildas head coach.

“We finished the season undefeated,” Montemurro – who reached this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals – said afterwards. “We scored 99 goals, we conceded eight, right? It’s great.
“Now, a new cycle begins.”
Montemurro was not the only Australian involved in the title-winning triumph.
A-Leagues legend and Matildas star Ellie Carpenter got her hands on a third league trophy with Lyon, and her seventh in total since joining the club in 2020.
The other Australian part of the triumph was Montemurro’s assistant and former Melbourne Victory academy head coach Joe Palatsides, who arrived at the start of the season.
