Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold has formed an alliance with high-profile coaches from rival codes in the Moore Park precinct in the hope of giving the Sky Blues an edge in the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.
A report in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph revealed Arnold has joined forces with the coaches from rival codes.
The coaches include Wallabies boss Michael Cheika, Sydney Swans coach John Longmire, Roosters supremo Trent Robinson and the Waratahs Daryl Gibson, who are all based at the Moore Park sporting precinct.
The coaches will meet regularly to share everything from training methods, coaching structures, high-performance models, strength and conditioning techniques and team cultures.
“Everyone has different philosophies,’’ Arnold told the Telegraph.

“We are trying to join forces with the Allianz and Moore Park teams to work on the cultural side of our sports and have our strength and conditioning departments working together. We can bounce ideas off each other over fitness.
“It is always good to learn off other codes and people like Trent, Michael Cheika, Daryl Gibson, with his time in New Zealand with the All Blacks and their culture and what they do.
“Team culture, what it takes to build. It’s about educating ourselves. We can utilise everyone else’s experiences and hopefully it will benefit all of us.”
All five coaches, who try to meet once a month or every six weeks, have been successful over the years in their respective competitions.
“In elite sport, the tactics can be different,” Arnold added.
“The balls are a different shape and the rules are different but it’s about getting the best out of people and implementing the right cultures to bring success.
“That is something we can learn about. It’s about using the knowledge of all the top coaches to try and build a similar philosophy right through those teams at Moore Park.
“It’s good to see how we all function and work. Rugby league methods, rugby union methods, AFL methods are different to soccer.”
