Sydney FC hand tenacious midfielder new two-year contract: ‘One of the best’

Sydney FC have secured the future of Young Matildas captain Shay Hollman after handing the midfielder a new two-year deal.

The 19-year-old featured 13 times for the Sky Blues during the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season and will look to establish herself at the heart of the team’s midfield for years to come.

“I’m excited to stay at Sydney FC because I love the team and the culture,” said Hollman after inking her new deal.

“It is an environment where I look forward to going to training.

“It has been a big part of my career and is a great environment to continue to learn and grow.”

Having joined the club as a 14-year-old, Hollman will now remain in Sky Blue until the end of the 2026-27 Ninja A-League season as Ante Juric’s side look to bounce back having missed out on playing finals football last year.

“Shay is one of the best young midfielders in the country, and we’re really happy to have secured her for another two years,” said Juric after news of the deal was made official.

“Her work-rate is exceptional, her tenacity stands out every time she steps on the field, and she gives everything for the club and her team-mates.

He continued: “She’s a player with a bright future, and we believe she can achieve a lot in the coming seasons.

“We’re committed to helping her take the next steps in her career and continuing to challenge her to reach her full potential.”

The Hollman family name is one that’s become synonymous with Sydney FC over the years given brother Corey currently plays in the men’s side while eldest brother Jake previously played for the club before moving to Macarthur.
