Melbourne City have confirmed Socceroos goalkeeper Patrick Beach has completed a permanent transfer to French Ligue 1 side Troyes for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old departs City after three seasons in Melbourne, during which he established himself as one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s standout goalkeepers before becoming the Socceroos first-choice goalkeeper at the World Cup.
Beach made 64 appearances across all competitions for City, keeping 25 clean sheets and playing a key role in the club’s 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League Championship-winning campaign.

The young goalkeeper started every match of City’s title-winning season and capped it with a clean sheet in the Grand Final victory over rivals Melbourne Victory.
His performances at club level earned him a Socceroos debut against Venezuela in November 2025, where he was named Player of the Match, before going on to start all four of Australia’s matches at the FIFA World Cup as Tony Popovic’s first-choice goalkeeper.
“The last three years at Melbourne City have shaped me so much, both as a player and as a person,” Beach said after sealing his move to the French top flight.
“This Club has given me the opportunity to challenge myself every day, improve my game and ultimately fulfil my dream of representing the Socceroos and Australia at the FIFA World Cup. I’ll always be incredibly grateful for that.
“My teammates, coaches and all of the staff have played such an important role in my journey, and I’ll leave with friendships and memories that I’ll carry with me forever..

“I want to thank everyone involved at Melbourne City for the support they’ve shown me from the moment I arrived. I’ll always look back on my time here with enormous pride.”
Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Beach’s development highlighted the club’s ability to nurture young Australian talent.
“Patrick’s journey at Melbourne City is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when talent is matched with hard work, resilience and the right environment,” Petrillo said.
“From the day he arrived, Patrick embraced every challenge. Nothing was handed to him and he earned every opportunity through his commitment to improving every day.
“We’re incredibly proud that the environment we’ve built at Melbourne City has helped support Patrick’s development from one of Australia’s brightest young goalkeepers into an A-League Champion, Socceroo, Australia’s first-choice goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup and now a player who has earned the opportunity to continue his career in France’s Ligue 1.
