Adelaide United can jump up to second on the Ninja A-League table with a win over Perth Glory in the first game of Round 15 on Friday night.

The Reds are enjoying a sensational season, having already picked up 26 points from 14 games.

The club’s previous-best points tally for a Ninja A-League season came in 2021-22 when they finished third on 27 points in a 14-game regular season; with seven regular-season games still to play, Adrian Stenta’s side is well-placed to shatter that club record and reach the finals for just the second time in Ninja A-League history.

Adelaide are currently on a club-record seven-game unbeaten run that has featured five wins, and their recent success has coincided with striker Chelsie Dawber’s purple patch of form. Dawber has four goals in four games heading into Round 15.

Perth, meanwhile, have lost touch with the top six having won just one of their last seven games. Glory sit ninth on the Ninja A-League table with 12 points.

Wellington Phoenix v Melbourne Victory

Saturday, February 8 – Porirua Park – 2pm AEDT

Wellington Phoenix are at risk of dropping out of finals contention after two straight losses heading into Round 15, and a home game against second-placed Melbourne Victory.

The eighth-placed Phoenix are three points behind Western United in sixth but will be confident in their ability to get back to their best form on their return home to Porirua Park, where they’ve won their last four games.

Defeating Victory, however, will be no easy feat. Jeff Hopkins’ side have lost just one of their last 13 games on a remarkable run of form and are shaping as a genuine title contender after 14 rounds; Victory drew 1-1 with league leaders Melbourne City last time out but a win on the road would keep them hot on City’s heels in the Premiership race.

Canberra United v Central Coast Mariners

Saturday, February 8 – McKellar Park – 5pm AEDT

Canberra United are out for revenge as they host Central Coast Mariners at McKellar Park on Saturday evening.

The Mariners beat Canberra 2-1 in Round 5 in what was the first defeat of a three-game losing streak that saw Canberra drop to 10th on the table; it’s been an uphill battle ever since for head coach Antoni Jagarinec but momentum has turned of late, with four wins from six games seeing his side surge to within one point of the top six.

Central Coast are flying off the back of a comprehensive 5-1 win over Newcastle Jets in the F3 Derby. Sat fifth on the table, the Mariners are the lowest-scoring side inside the finals standings but showed a clinical touch against the Jets that, combined with a defence that has conceded just 13 goals in 14 games, could quickly see them become a dark horse in the race for silverware this season.

Newcastle Jets v Melbourne City

Saturday, February 8 – McDonald Jones Stadium – 7.45pm AEDT

History is firmly stacked against Newcastle Jets as high-flying Melbourne City come to town.

Never in the club’s history have the Jets beaten City in the Ninja A-League and they must defy the odds to conquer the unbeaten reigning premiers.

City are the team to beat in 2024-25 – unbeaten amid a club-record 18-game undefeated streak following their first ever win over Western United midweek, a 5-1 demolition inspired by a hat-trick from CommBank Matildas forward Holly McNamara.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are coming off a 5-1 rout at the hands of rivals Central Coast Mariners in the F3 Derby.

Western Sydney Wanderers v Brisbane Roar

Sunday, February 9 – Wanderers Football Park – 5pm AEDT

After a mid-season wobble, Brisbane Roar look back on form and their talent-laden attack will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on bottom-placed Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.

The Roar were first after Round 4 and sat second all the way up until Round 11 before three-straight defeats saw Alex Smith’s side slide down to fourth. But Brisbane ended that run with a much-needed win over Wellington in Round 14, a result that kept them in the Premiership hunt.

Smith will receive a welcome boost this weekend with the return of defender Holly McQueen from suspension, but Matildas star Sharn Freier remains a doubt with an ankle injury suffered against Perth Glory in Round 13.

Brisbane have missed midfielder Momo Hayashi since the breakout Ninja A-League star suffered an ankle injury of her own in January; the Japanese playmaker will remain sidelined this weekend with an expected recovery time of four-to-six weeks given at the time the injury occurred.

Sydney FC v Western United

Sunday, February 9 – Leichhard Oval – 5pm AEDT

MATCH CENTRE | BUY TICKETS | HOW TO WATCH

Can Sydney FC end a run of back-to-back defeats and kick-start their charge towards the top six?

The two-time reigning champions have endured a challenging campaign as they sit 11th and 12 points outside of the top six following a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Adelaide United after conceding in the 94th minute, having equalised a minute earlier.

Sydney have only won one of their past 11 matches, which includes a 2-1 defeat to Western United in December.

Western – who have played an extra game – are clinging onto their place in the top six, with the Green and Black a point clear of Canberra United and two points ahead of Wellington Phoenix after their midweek rout against Melbourne City.
