‘Phenomenal’ Aussie’s new home revealed and he’s not the only A-Leagues graduate at the club

MLS outfit Real Salt Lake have announced the signing of Ariath Piol from Isuzu UTE A-League side Macarthur Bulls.

Piol has signed a contract through the 2027 MLS season, with a club option for the 2028 campaign after Macarthur agreed to sell the talented Australian forward with an on-sell amount.

Pending P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC) receipts, Piol will be eligible to join RSL for their two California-based pre-season training stints, prior to the team’s February 19 CONCACAF Champions Cup Round One first leg tilt in San Jose, Costa Rica against CS Herediano.

The 20-year-old, who made just four league appearances for the Bulls and scored four goals, is not the only A-Leagues product at RSL as he links up with former Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Lachlan Brook – who moved to Utah in July 2024.

“Ari is a talented young player with a bright future and a ton of potential,” said RSL Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid.

“We are excited to see him grow with us for the next few years as another young attacker we can develop. We’ve seen and heard great things about Ari’s ‘team-first’ attitude.

“His determined work rate is evident, and combined with a phenomenal skill set and the tools he has to bolster our attack, we are elated to welcome him to Utah.”

‘THAT’S MY WHY’: When two civil war stories meet – and lead to the A-Leagues

While Piol amassed just 436 minutes of A-Leagues action since emerging from the Bulls FC Academy in 2023-24, he quickly emerged as one of the most exciting players in the competition.

He scored three goals in nine appearances this season, though only four of those were starts for Mile Sterjovski’s Macarthur. Piol also scored an unforgettable bicycle kick earlier in 2024-25 after winning the 2024 Australia Cup.

“All praise and glory to God for my blessings, I’m happy and grateful to have this U.S. Major League Soccer opportunity,” Piol said.

“I’ve enjoyed my research of the club and I can’t wait to get on with the great group of players and staff that we’ve got.

“I’m excited to learn every day, and I’m looking forward to this upcoming season and how I can add my personality to the squad and help the team succeed.’’
