Adelaide United’s teenage goalkeeper Ethan Cox has signed a three-year contract extension with the Isuzu UTE A-League club.
The highly rated 18-year-old has committed to Adelaide until 2027 after making his A-Leagues debut against reigning premiers and defending champions Central Coast Mariners in the club’s final match of the season on May 1.
Another prospect off Adelaide’s famed production line, the South Australian joined the Reds in 2019 and he played a key role in the team’s NPLM SA title win in 2023.

“I’m so happy to be staying here at the club and continue to grow,” Cox said.
“Being an Adelaide boy and playing for the only Adelaide club in the league is really special to me.
“Eugene is a huge role model for me at the club and watching him play for United for many years, and seeing how he has developed here, inspires me to do the same.”

Challenging James Dalianov for the number one role in 2024-25, Cox will be looking to follow in the footsteps of former Adelaide goalkeepers Joe Gauci and Steven Hall.
Socceroo Gauci (Aston Villa) and Hall (Brighton and Hove Albion) both joined Premier League sides in January.
Adelaide’s goalkeeper coach Eugene Galekovic added: “Ethan has worked tirelessly on and off the field daily, and this contract is a reward for his efforts.
“He has a very bright future ahead of him, and I look forward to seeing him develop over the coming years.”
