Newcastle Jets have announced the signing of Swiss international Lorena Baumann ahead of the upcoming Liberty A-League campaign.
Baumann joins the club after an extensive career overseas, playing for top Swiss outfits FC Zurich Frauen, FC Neunkirch, FC St Gallen, along with stints at Throttur Reykjavik in Iceland
and SF Damaiense in Portugal.
The 26-year-old defender has won six Swiss Championship titles, along with five Swiss Cups and featured regularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League throughout her career for Zurich.
Baumann handed her international debut in 2019, after previously representing Switzerland at U17 and U19 level.

“I’m very excited to sign with Newcastle for the upcoming season. I have always wanted to play in Australia and I’m happy to be here,” she said.

Baumann is the club’s sixth new signing, joining Rebecca Burrows (Canberra United), Sophie Hoban, Claudia Cicco (Wellington Phoenix), Melina Ayres (Melbourne Victory) and Kiara Rochaix (Blacktown City FC) as the Jets’ newest off-season arrivals.
Newcastle kick-off their Liberty A-League campaign in the F3 Derby against Central Coast Mariners on October 14 at Industree Group Stadium.
