Macarthur FC have secured the services of former Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City midfielder Kearyn Baccus on a two-year deal from Kaizer Chiefs.
Durban-born Baccus spent the past three years at the South African side, featuring in 46 matches and notching four assists and two goals.
Baccus brings 89 games of Isuzu UTE A-League experience to the Bulls amassed at the Wanderers (62 games) and City (27 games) across five seasons.
Speaking to club media after putting pen to paper on a return to Australia, Baccus expressed his excitement to work under new Macarthur head coach and Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke, as the former Sydney FC captain leads the Bulls into a new era in the club’s third ALM campaign.
“I’m excited to be here and start a new challenge with this club,” the 30-year-old Baccus said.
“I’m from this area, so I’m looking forward to being back here and getting start with the new coaches and my new team-mates.
“With the new appointment of Dwight to the club, I think its an exciting time for the club and for us players learn from his experience at such a high level. I think the team is moulding to be a great one and I believe if we work together, we will do really well in the competition.
Bulls Group CEO Sam Krslovic added: “Kearyn is a talented midfielder who adds value to what we are building here at the club.
“I believe Kearyn is a representation of the club’s core values and we look forward to having him here at the club as we strive for success.”
Baccus is Macarthur’s fifth signing of the off-season, along with Jerry Skotadis, Jed Drew, Eddie Caspers and Jonathan Aspropotamitis.
