Winger Clayton Taylor has secured a move to England, with Barnsley FC signing the former Newcastle Jets star on a three-year contract.
The EFL League One club also has the option of extend Taylor’s deal by a further year, subject to visa approval, registration and international clearance.
Taylor was one of a number of players to leave the Jets at the end of what was an incredibly successful season for the club as they won both the 2026 Australia Cup and a first ever Isuzu UTE A-League Premiership.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar season, scoring nine goals and registering two assists as Mark Milligan’s side dazzled their way to the Premiership, and with it, qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite in season 2026-27.
“Barnsley’s philosophy really appealed to me,” said Taylor, after news of his move to the Yorkshire club was confirmed.
“The club has a young, ambitious squad, and I felt this was the right time in my career to take the next step, challenge myself in a new environment and test myself at a higher level.
“Barnsley was the right choice for me, and I’m excited to get started.”
Tykes Head Coach Daniel Stendel believes Taylor has all the attributes to continue his development in England.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Clayton to Barnsley,” said Stendel. “He is a young, exciting player with real quality in the final third, and we believe he has all the attributes to develop even further with us.
“He is quick, creative and works hard for the team, which are qualities we value highly.
He continued: “Clayton has shown his ability to score goals and create chances in Australia, and we’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in his career.
“He was eager to be part of what we’re building here, and we’re delighted to have him with us ahead of the new season.”
Following the series of high-profile exits which also includes the likes of Eli Adams (Gamba Osaka), Lachie Rose (Dundee United) and Lachlan Bayliss (Auckland FC), the Jets have been busy making moves of their own.
Star winger Joe Lolley has inked a two-year deal with the reigning Premiers after leaving Sydney FC whilst Nikos Vergos has joined from Melbourne Victory, Zane Schreiber has headed north from Melbourne City and striker Patrick Wood has also joined from Sydney FC.
