The Ninja A-League Champions are back to defend their title in 2025-26, but with a new coach at the helm and several big-name departures, Central Coast Mariners are somewhat of an unknown quantity heading into the new campaign.
Champion head coach Emily Husband’s off-season departure to take on an assistant coach role with the CommBank Matildas led to the appointment of Kory Babington at the Mariners. The club’s new head coach has two decades of coaching experience in Australian football and has an outstanding reputation for developing young players.

Babington will be working with a squad lacking key trio Jessika Nash, Bianca Galic and Taylor Ray, who all departed the club following last season’s Championship achievement. But the retention of star midfielder and recently-capped CommBank Matilda Izzy Gomez was a major coup for the club – and watch out for the continued rise of teenage talent Tiana Fuller, who is one of the most exciting rising talents in Australian football.
