Brisbane Roar’s Ninja A-League squad has a new attacking weapon after the arrival of Bente Jansen from Dutch giants AFC Ajax.
The 26-year-old joins Brisbane after two years and 24 appearances at Ajax in the Dutch Women’s Eredivisie. Whilst in Amsterdam, Jansen lifted the Dutch Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Prior to joining Ajax – one of the most iconic clubs in world football – Jansen spent 12 years at fellow Dutch outfit FC Twente.
She made her professional debut for Twente in 2016, accumulated more than 100 appearances for the club over the following seven years, won the Eredivisie league title three times, and lifted both the KNVB Women’s Cup and the Women’s Super Cup once.

Now, nine years into her professional career, Jansen is set to play for a club outside of the Netherlands for the very first time as she links up with the Roar for the Ninja A-League 2025-26 campaign.
“I’m super happy and proud to play for Brisbane Roar and grateful for the confidence the club has in me,” Jansen said.
“My first conversations with Alex (Roar head coach Alex Smith) felt really good and the ambitious playing style immediately appealed to me and suits my own style of play very well.
“I want to make a direct impact on the field and help the team with my experience to achieve great goals in the upcoming season.”
Jansen is Brisbane’s ninth off-season signing, after the arrival of Chloe Lincoln, Amali Kinsella, Daisy Brown, Kijah Stephenson, Kiera Meyers, Tahlia Franco, Ashlyn Miller, Kayla Hanson at the club.

Roar head coach Smith says the acquisition of Jansen is a “huge coup” for the club.
“Very pleased to welcome Bente to the club,” Smith said.
“It’s a huge coup for our program to sign a player of her calibre. She has extensive experience in a top European league and is in the prime of her career.
“She has fantastic technical ability and a proven track record of winning trophies.”
