Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed an automatic one-year contract extension has been activated to keep midfielder Josh Brillante at the club until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
The 32-year-old first joined the Wanderers in July 2023 and has made 42 appearances for the club across the past two years.
Described as a key pillar in the club’s rebuild by head coach Alen Stajcic, Brillante’s composure and experience in midfield were pivotal through Stajcic’s first season at the helm of the club.

Brillante made 24 appearances under Stajcic in 2024-25 as he contributed to the club’s rapid resurgence and a fourth-place finish under their new head coach.
“Josh has been a critical pillar in rebuilding a positive team culture and belief within the club, laying a platform and foundation for the team’s continued growth this season,” Stajcic said.
“His contribution is just as important on the field, as it is off it, and we look forward to him further strengthening the club’s position this season.”
Brillante is the seventh Wanderers re-signing of the off-season, joining Lawrence Thomas, Gabriel Cleur, Jordan Holmes, Alaat Abdul-Rahman, Ricky Fransen and Ben Mewett in recommitting to the club for 2025-26.
“I’m very happy to be staying at the Wanderers for another season,” Brillante said.
“Off the back of last season, I feel we’re heading into the next with strong foundations and exciting football.
“We’re striving to attain silverware for the club and exceed last year’s success. Last season the members and fans were brilliant so thank you and hopefully they’ll be back bigger and louder this season.”
