One game down but four more huge matches in Hyundai A-League Round 17, starting with a Friday night blockbuster between the Wanderers and Victory.
We’ve picked out four stars who are back in their respective squads and likely to make an impact for their teams.
Rhys Williams (Melbourne Victory)
Williams returns from suspension after his red card against the Phoenix a fortnight ago.
The former Middlesbrough man will be key if Victory are to leapfrog crosstown rivals Melbourne City on the ladder with a win over a resurgent Wanderers outfit.
His return should allow Mark Milligan to return to his preferred midfield role, and freeing up Terry Antonis into a more advanced role as cover for James Troisi, who misses the clash through suspension.
Álvaro Cejudo (Western Sydney Wanderers)
The Spaniard was one of the Wanderers’ best before his injury and his return will only strengthen a side which is unbeaten in their last four Hyundai A-League games.
Up against a Victory defence which has Rhys Williams – and possibly Thomas Deng – back in their squad, Cejudo’s creativity and flair could be vital at ANZ Stadium.
Andrew Hoole (Central Coast Mariners)
Hoole’s time with the Mariners has been marred by suspension, though his talent has been undeniable, scoring twice and assisting another three goals.
And the Mariners will need his work-rate, ability to unlock defences and speed as they take on champions Sydney FC on Saturday night.
If they are to pull off another shock against the Sky Blues, expect Hoole to feature prominently.
Ryan Kitto (Adelaide United)
Giving their horror injury toll, the return of the underrated Kitto is like gold for Marco Kurz’s side.
The Reds missed his pacy and incisive runs against Sydney FC last week, and with five goals for the campaign he’s been one of Adelaide’s most consistent performers all season.
