Newcastle Jets’ Jason Hoffman was stunned after the Jets conceded an injury-time goal to draw 1-1 with a 10-man Mariners in an F3 Derby thriller on Saturday.
Matt Sim, a late substitute for Central Coast, found himself with space in the box to slide home a dramatic equaliser in the 93rd minute at Hunter Stadium to send the travelling fans into ecstasy.
Minutes earlier, Jets striker Milos Trifunovic headed home what appeared to be the winner for the Jets against the 10-man visitors who lost defender Jake McGing to a red in the 24th minute.

“We have a point at home but it feels like a loss,” a dejected Hoffman told ABC Grandstand.
“I guess you have a one-man advantage and not take advantage at home is extremely disappointing.”
Hoffman, while ruing the two points dropped, also lamented the McGing tackle on Jets playmaker Leonardo which saw the Brazilian stretchered off.
“We hope he’s [Leonardo] alright. It was a harsh challenge and we lost our number 10 because of that.”
Hoffman added: “It’s hard to think what to say at the moment. We’ve got to be better at home. And we had a point to prove today after last week [losing to Wanderers] and we didn’t do that.
“I put my hand up, many times I was down there [in attack] and I couldn’t get the quality [balls in] but to concede late is extremely disappointing.”
