Perth boss Kenny Lowe says regardless of what has transpired at the club this season, Glory have had an amazing year.
Glory ended a tumultuous campaign with a 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night to finish the season with a club-record 50 points.
But due to their punishment for salary cap breaches there will be no Finals Series appearance for the club, who will be relegated to seventh spot at the end of the weekend.
Asked his emotions after what he described as an “interesting year”, Lowe said: “I’m cool and balanced. You can’t get too excited when you’re up there and you can’t get too down when things are down.
“Otherwise you’ll end up throwing yourself off a big building one day. You treat triumph and crisis exactly the same.
“We sit on 50 points which for this club is amazing. We’ve been to an FFA Cup final and again that’s amazing.
“That’s fair play to the players. We sit on the same points as Melbourne Victory who are a really, really good team. For us to do that it must mean we’re decent.”
Glory led 1-0 at the break thanks to Jamie Maclaren’s striker before conceding early in the second half via Wanderers debutant Liam Youlley.
But Irishman Andy Keogh had the final say, curling home the winner midway through the second half for his 12th goal of the season.
“It’s my first year and it’s been superb. It’s also been frustrating but this is a good end to it,” Lowe said.
“It’s thoroughly deserved by the players. They’ve been absolutely magnificent through it all.
“We’ll remember the season how we want to. We’re not bothered about anyone else and everyone’s going to have their perception.
“We’ve done ever so well.”
Saturday’s match was the last for the club for youngster Daniel De Silva, who will link up with Serie A club AS Roma for next season.
