Mackay Magpies are leaving no stone unturned in preparation for their do-or-die Football Queensland Cup decider against FNQ FC Heat.
The North Queensland club will make the lengthy trip further up Queensland’s coast to Cairns on Saturday 21 June to decide one of the state’s remaining two Westfield FFA Cup places.
Overcoming a National Premier League outfit and qualifying for the Round of 32 would both be monumental achievements for the Magpies and coach Rick Carroll is adopting a professional approach on and off the pitch.
“We-ll probably stick with the game plan that-s worked for us and then try to react to any given situation,” Carroll said.
“I can set just one plan but if we go and concede in the first minute then that goes out the window, so we have to be prepared.
“All the lads have booked the Friday off work so we can head up early and get nice and relaxed in Cairns.”
