Jets coach Mark Milligan has reassured fans after his side’s stalemate with Macarthur made it two points from two games.
Newcastle Jets were held to a 1-1 draw with Macarthur at McDonald Jones Stadium which left them without a win after two weekends of the A-League Men season. Coach Mark Milligan was eager to recall conversations from the start of last season, before they made their late charge to their first A-League Premiership.
“We’re in a fortunate situation because we’ve been through this,” he said. “You’re saying a lot of similar things to what people were saying to me early on last year.”

The Jets lost four of their first five matches at the start of last campaign but were able to turn their form around so dramatically that they broke two club records: winning eight games in a row and going unbeaten for 10.
“We’ll look at it. We’ll grow from it… We’re not far away from where we need to be.”
When asked about the way his side have been exploited so far this season, the 41 year-old was quick to suggest that lessons are being learned that will make them stronger in the future. “It’s about understanding our weaknesses,” he said. “We can talk about them and do talk about them but (the players) have to feel these moments to be able to adjust.”

The Jets will fly out to Japan tomorrow morning for their third match in the AFC Champions League Elite against Kyoto Sanga FC.
“It’s tough but this is what we want to expose these young Australian players to,” he said of the congested schedule. “This is world football and we’re fortunate at the moment to be in the position to give them that.”
The Jets will return to A-League Men action when they host Wellington Phoenix on Halloween.
