Westfield Matildas and Sydney FC starlet Servet Uzunlar is headed to the USA to play for Pali Blues.

Westfield Matildas and Sydney FC player Servet Uzunlar is headed to America to play with the Pali Blues in the 2012 USA W-League.

The 23-year-old is a current member of the Australian National Team and is coming off her third season with Sydney FC after playing a starring role with them in defence, not to mention the Matiildas where she was one of four members to play every minute of the 2011 World Cup.

The move has presented Uzunlar with a chance to head back overseas, after aan earlier stinty in Canada and she is looking forward to the challenge football in the USA represents.

“I-m certainly looking forward to the move on both personal and professional levels. It-s been a while since I played in Canada and I think the US represents a similar challenge,” Uzunlar said.

While the challenge to play in one of the world-s top leagues is immense, Uzunlar believes it-s a move which is more about opportunity and a chance to show her skills on a bigger stage.

“I see the move as an opportunity to grow as a player and make my own mark on the league,” she said.

“Having spoken to the coach, I know he has worked hard to bring in players from all over the world to help the team be at the top of the table.

“I have been in contact with the coach over the last two months and I-m pretty excited about the deal and what the club might be able to do, having said that my first goal will be cementing a spot in the starting team.”
