Football Federation Australia (FFA) is saddened to learn of the passing of Lloyd Morrison, a key member of the Welnix consortium that owns the Wellington Phoenix football club.

Lloyd passed away peacefully yesterday in a Seattle hospital after a long battle with leukaemia.

On behalf of FFA, Chief Executive Officer Ben Buckley, expressed the collective feelings of the Australian football community.

“Our most sincere condolences go out to the Morrison family at this very sad time,” said Buckley.

“Lloyd-s passion and commitment to the Wellington Phoenix club and the Hyundai A-League was greatly appreciated by us all.

“We hope that his football legacy will continue for the people of Wellington and New Zealand for many years to come,” concluded Buckley.

Sunday-s Hyundai A-League fixture between the Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar will commemorate Lloyd Morrison-s passing with a moments silence and with the players wearing black armbands as a mark of respect.
