Wednesday night glory at Hindmarsh Stadium! Be part of the midweek action as The Reds look to continue their exceptional home form.
Having got their obligatory defeat to Melbourne Victory out of the way and faced a tough battle against Brisbane Roar, The Reds are back in town and looking to consolidate their magnificent start to the season.
Cheered on by another big crowd at Hindmarsh, they-ll see a home game against struggling Perth Glory as the ideal chance to get three more points on the board and continue their push for silverware.
United need only look back as far as Week 8 for the last time they turned Perth Glory over. The 2-0 victory at Hindmarsh Stadium came thanks to Sergio van Dijk-s brace in as many minutes late in the second half.
While the scoreline suggests it was a comfortable win for The Reds, the lively encounter was actually fairly evenly balanced until a crazy five minute spell in which van Dijk netted twice and Perth-s Chris Coyne was sent off for receiving his second yellow card. When looking ahead to Wednesday-s match-up, Glory can at least take heart in the fact they gave United a run for their money in the last meeting.
Indeed, Glory will cling onto as many positives they can as they look to lay to rest the ghost of their last away game as quickly as possible. Last weekend they journeyed to NSW to take on Central Coast Mariners trying to avoid an unprecedented seventh straight defeat yet, rather than fighting for their lives, the side laid down and died.
The 5-0 scoreline in no way flattered Mariners, and left Ian Ferguson fuming at his side-s surrender. The loss was their fourth away defeat on the spin, during which they have scored just one goal and leaked 11. So, the last thing they need is a trip to Hindmarsh Stadium, a place where United are unbeaten all season.
Make no mistake though, while Rini Coolen-s powerful attacking side certainly offer at least as much threat as Mariners, there will be no such horror-show from Glory this time round. With lessons learnt, in Adelaide they will, at the very least, put up a fight.
Reds- full-back Cameron Watson is set to play his first game back at Hindmarsh after re-signing for Adelaide on another short term four-week contract as cover for the injured Daniel Mullen. The defender made his return in the 2-1 defeat to Melbourne Victory.
