Mark Bosnich has been called in to train North Queensland Fury for their Hyundai A-League clash next Wednesday after the club’s regular coaches were suspended.
Coach Franz Straka was suspended after breaching the national code of conduct by placing his hands on fourth official Kris Griffiths-Jones in the Fury’s 3-2 loss to Central Coast on October 2.
The Fury unsuccessfully appealed the decision which was held over a week as the disciplinary committee awaited further submissions.
Former Qantas Socceroo keeper Bosnich will join the Fury’s head of football operations Robbie Middleby on the bench with assistant coach Stuart McLaren already enduring a two-match ban after criticising referee Kurt Ams during the same match.
“When the Fury asked if I would be interested in helping out the club next week, ahead of and during the Newcastle match, I jumped at the chance,” Bosnich said.
“I’m a big fan of the Fury, particularly the enterprising style of football they play and the exciting talent they have throughout the squad. I have huge respect for Franz Straka and what he has achieved under challenging circumstances this season and I consider it an honour to be asked to help train his team next week.”
North Queensland Fury CEO, Rabieh Krayem said; “It’s naturally disappointing not to have Franz or Stuart available for this match but to have the experience of both Robbie (Middleby) and Mark Bosnich around the squad will be invaluable.”

Mark has played football at the highest level and now as a member of the Fox Sports commentary team, he knows the A-League extremely well.”
