Sydney FC-s National Youth League team continues to take shape ahead of the coming season, with Central Coast defender, Steven Tibbetts the latest player to join the ranks of the junior Sky Blues.
“It-s a great honour,” said the 18-year old. “I-ve had Rocky (Coach, Steve O-Connor) before at the AIS so it should be good. Sydney ‘s Youth Team set the standard last year and the senior squad is full of players I-ve looked up to, seen on television – now I-ll get to train with them.”
The Western Sydney native is currently playing in the NSW Premier League with Sydney Olympic but is looking forward to helping Sydney FC defend its NYL title.
“Hopefully we can do it again,” he explained. “My main aim is to play well and push for a starting position in the Youth Team each week and hopefully, if possible, get a run in the first team.”
“You-ve just got to work hard, be determined and if you really want it you can get it.”
After Tibbett-s signing Sydney FC has only seven places remaining in its NYL squad for the 2009/10 season.
