The competition in the Hyundai A-League heats up this weekend with the leading four teams vying for the top spot on the ladder.
And the standard of talent in the Hyundai A-League continues to impress – locally and internationally.
This comes as Hyundai A-League team, Adelaide United, along with coach Aurelio Vidmar and referee Matthew Breeze have been nominated in three separate categories of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Awards. Winners are set be announced at the gala AFC Awards Night in Shanghai, China on 25 November.

The previous lowest position a reigning Champion fell to throughout the following season was 2006/07 Champions Melbourne Victory, who fell to seventh position (for one week) after Round 17, 2007/08.

2005/06
Perth Glory achieved its highest-ever Hyundai A-League ladder placing – third – after Round 12, 2005/06 having thumped New Zealand Knights 3-0 at Members Equity Stadium. This was the Glory-s (equal) biggest win in the Hyundai A-League.
2006/07
Newcastle completed a remarkable turnaround by Round 12, 2006/07: winless in its first seven games of the 2006/07 season, the Jets then went on a five match undefeated streak which climaxed with a resounding 3-1 win over the Mariners in Round 12.
2007/08
One of the biggest all-time upsets of the Hyundai A-League occurred in Round 12, 2007/08, when the previously winless Perth Glory thrashed eventual 2007/08 Champions Newcastle Jets 4-1 at Newcastle-s EnergyAustralia Stadium.
