The next Hyundai A-League appearance for Danny Allsopp will be his 100th appearance at national league level in Australia. Allsopp commenced his first-class career in November 1995 aged just 17. He played 36 matches in the former competition before moving abroad, returning to Australia in 2005 to join Melbourne Victory, where he has so far made 63 appearances in the Hyundai A-League. Following his double against Wellington on Sunday, Allsopp-s Australian national league goal tally stands at an impressive 29 goals from 99 matches.

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games may be over but the Olympic spirit continues in football with eleven former Olympians likely to take part in this week-s Round 3 Sydney FC v Perth Glory match at Sydney Football Stadium – the largest ‘Olyroos- alumni to take the field in one match. Sydney FC squad members including Mark Bridge (2008 Olympics), Alex Brosque (2004), Simon Colosimo (2000) and Steve Corica (1992, 1996); together with Perth Glory players Amaral (1996, Brazil), Frank Juric (1996), Nick Rizzo (2000), Nikita Rukavytsya (2008) and Nik Topor-Stanley (2008) have taken part in the Olympic Games Football Tournament. Central Coast Mariners- Nik Mrdja is due to make his 100th appearance in all national leagues. Mrdja, who has suffered a run of long-term injuries since scoring the last goal in the old competition in April 2004, played 76 matches in the NSL, 12 matches in the Swedish top division, plus 11 appearances so far in the Hyundai A-League.
Meanwhile Queensland Roar-s Reinaldo is set to make his 50th Hyundai A-League appearance. The flamboyant Brazilian striker, who is the Roar-s highest-scoring Hyundai A-League player, made his debut on 1 January 2006 for Queensland Roar.
