Glory hold the in-form Victory
Perth Glory picked up just their second point of the Foxtel Y-League season after a thrilling 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday.
After a goalless first-half, the match sprung to life in a breathless second 45 minutes.
Victory substitute Nishan Velupillay opened the scoring just two minutes after the restart before Glory hit back less than 10 minutes later through Charlie Leech.
Glory boss Richard Garcia then introduced Ciaran Bramwell soon after and the youngster made an almost immediate impact.
With one of his first touches of the ball, Bramwell fired a powerful left-foot strike past the Victory keeper and a big upset looked on the cards.
But Victory’s Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio then struck in the 68th minute when he latched on to a low cross from Velupillay, ensuring both teams would walk away with a point.

Mariners see off stubborn Canberra
Central Coast Mariners remain in a two-way tie at the top of the table with Sydney FC after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Canberra United.
While United are winless so far in the 2019/20 Season, they pushed Nick Montgomery’s Mariners all the way at Pluim Park.
The home side took the lead midway through the first-half as a corner was whipped to the near post where Harry McCarthy was positioned to prod the ball in from close range.
The Mariners dominated possession and chances but it took until 11 minutes from time to make the result safe.
And it was a goal worth the wait.
Substitute Kyle Johnson – who had only come on minutes earlier – hit a curling strike from the edge of the area which flew into the far, top corner.

Sky Blues soar over Jets in eight-goal thriller
A scorching second-half display has helped Sydney FC overcome Newcastle Jets 5-3 in an entertaining affair at Newcastle’s No.2 Sportsground.
Just three points separated the league-leading Sky Blues and third-place Jets heading into this clash and it was the hosts that enjoyed the better of the first half.
Goals from Bailey Wells and Blake Archbold – either side of Marco Tilio’s strike – had the Jets leading 2-1 at the break.
The Sky Blues struck twice in the first 12 minutes of the second half before Newcastle’s Jack Simmons won – and converted – a penalty to make it 3-3 with 17 minutes left.
And in a thrilling climax it was the visitors who would take all three points with two late strikes.
First Benjamin Koop scored from a tight angle with four minutes left before Cameron Peupion iced the result in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Roar, City share the spoils in Brisbane
Melbourne City came from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw with Group A leaders Brisbane Roar at AJ Kelly Park.
Roar looked on course for another comfortable win as two goals from Jai Ingham – the first after great lead-up play by Jack Hingert – inside the first 25 minutes had the home side cruising.
But the momentum of the game changed just after the half-hour mark when Moudi Najjar pulled one back for City.
The visitors grew more and more into the contest after the break and got their reward 17 minutes from time as Najjar also completed his brace.
