Melbourne Victory v Central Coast Mariners: match preview

Melbourne Victory will be out to avoid a club record five straight losses when they take on Central Coast Mariners at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Monday night.

Victory’s 2-1 loss to Brisbane Roar last Wednesday was their fourth defeat on the bounce, their equal longest losing streak in their Hyundai A-League history.

It should ensure Grant Brebner’s side have extra motivation to take all three points against a Mariners side that won 3-2 the last time these sides met back in January.

That was the Mariners’ last win and if they can repeat that result in this one, it will end a 204 day wait for a victory.

It would also be the first time since 2013 the Mariners have recorded back-to-back wins over the Navy Blue.

Alen Stajcic’s side already have already claimed the wooden spoon for the campaign, but they’ll want to end the campaign on a high in what is their final game of the 2019/20 Season.
