A Matchweek 14 double-header awaits us on Saturday night as top-of-the-ladder Central Coast Mariners host rock bottom Melbourne Victory, before Perth Glory face off against the Newcastle Jets.
The Mariners were given a reality check on Monday night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to a red hot Melbourne City, ahead of their Saturday fixture against Victory (kick-off 7:10pm AEDT).
That hiccup has not affected their position, with Alen Stajcic’s side keeping hold of top spot ahead of this weekend’s clash.
The intense rainfall throughout New South Wales last weekend saw Victory’s clash against Sydney postponed, meaning they have not played in a fortnight.
Victory prop up the ladder and are currently in a four-match losing slump that could see them lose touch with the rest of the pack.

The final match on the packed-out Saturday schedule takes us west to HBF Park as Perth Glory entertain Newcastle Jets (kick-off 9:20pm AEDT).
Glory play at home for the second match running following a three-match series in New South Wales that saw them take on Phoenix, Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Their sole point from those three matches arrived in a 2-2 draw against the Mariners with the other two encounters ending in 3-0 defeats.
Meanwhile, Newcastle will be looking to address a poor run of form which has seen them stare down the barrel of four straight defeats.
A comprehensive 4-1 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United in their latest outing has the Hunter side looking over their shoulder with Victory trailing them by just four points.
Brisbane Roar’s clash against Western United, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to concerns about the conditions of the rain-soaked pitch at Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe.
