Sydney FC fullback Michael Zullo conceded the Sky Blues failed to produce their usual intensity in Saturday night’s 0-0 draw with Adelaide United.
REPORT: Sydney, Adelaide share points in Allianz arm-wrestle
HIGHLIGHTS: Sydney FC v Adelaide United
The home side were far from their potent best at Allianz Stadium despite continuing their unbeaten start to the season.
“I think we were a bit flat,” Zullo told Fox Sports.
“A strong point of our game is we usually win every single second ball and we didn’t really do that tonight.
“I just think we weren’t strong enough in the areas we usually are.
“One point is still a point gained but you have to be honest. We’re going out to win every game.”
The draw is the first time the free-scoring ladder-leaders have been held scoreless throughout the competition’s opening eight rounds.
Zullo tipped his teammates to recapture their swagger when they meet Melbourne City in the Westfield FFA Cup final in midweek.
“We just need to come out firing on Wednesday night and we will,” he said.
“I think it’s a sign of the side we’re in at the moment that it’s a draw here and we’re as disappointed as we are.”
