Tameka Yallop gave credit to Sydney FC goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe for denying Brisbane Roar a ‘deserved’ win.
The Westfield W-League top four clash between Roar and the Sky Blues remained locked at 0-0 at Leichhardt Oval although Yallop had a golden chance to take all three points the Queenslanders late on.
United States goalkeeper Bledsoe dived full-length to parry Yallop’s 81st minute-strike from 15 yards around the goalpost, 25 minutes after Yallop had come on as a substitute on her return from injury.
Roar controlled 55% of possession in the Harbour City and had seven shots on target to the home side’s one, but the visitors could not breach the Westfield W-League Goalkeeper of the Year 2018/19.
A share of the points keeps Jake Goodship’s side in the hunt for a Finals Series place but had Yallop’s effort found the net, their position would be far more secure.
“I think it was going [in the] side-netting, [it was] a great save to keep the game 0-0,” Yallop said post-match.

“I thought we deserved the win so I was a bit unlucky not to get that shot.
“A point is a point, we were definitely going for the three and like I said, I think we deserved it.
“We played well, defended well and had some good chances in attack as well.”
Fourth-place Roar are three points clear of Melbourne Victory, but the 2018/19 Premiers have two matches in hand.
And Brisbane may have to continue their Championship pursuit without their star performer this season, Hayley Raso, who is reportedly in talks with English Women’s Super League outfit Everton over a six-month move.
“Good for her,” Yallop said.
“It’s always good to see players going overseas and and to good leagues. All the best to Hayley.
“We’ll miss her but all the best.”
