The final match of the season is important for two different reasons
This exhibition on Saturday will showcase two teams with two very dissimilar incentives for winning!
The Victory this week will take to the field chasing points, while The Lady Reds will be looking to restore a little pride and gain their first win.
In order to claim a play-off spot, the fifth-placed Victory need both a win against Adelaide and the result of the match between Canberra and Perth to fall in their favour.
Although Melbourne’s aspirations of claiming their first ever finals birth is partially out of their control, Bub’s girls will be focused and determined to do their part and do it convincingly, especially given that the final play-off spot could come down to goal difference.
The task at hand may seem like a simple one seeing as their opposition this week are still win-less after 11 rounds.
This astonishing fact, however, makes Adelaide the most dangerous team to play this round. They will be playing for pride and competing with a ‘nothing to lose’ mentality.
So for all you Melbourne and Adelaide fans, there has never been a better excuse to get down to John Cain Memorial Park in Thornbury and support your team, as it could be your last opportunity to do so this season!
