WWL Semi-Final Preview: Brisbane Roar v Canberra United

Brisbane and Canberra battle it out to reach the final of the 2010/11 WWL

Brisbane Roar and Canberra United have done the hard yards and earned their spots in this Westfield W-League season-s semi final showdown. Fans, it-s now your turn to act as 12th player in the stands to help ensure that your team is the one that progresses to the final!

The Green Machine last week battled it out with Perth in a match that seemed destined for a scoreless draw!

However, young Ashleigh Sykes played saviour on the 88th minute, scoring and snatching the win for her team, fans and the city of Canberra itself!

They are now one step closer to the club-s second grand final, and this next step may be more like a hurdle given that they will be up against the Roar and the team-s strikers!

Perhaps it-s fair to state that Brisbane-s recent results and their ability to finish chances have fallen below the team-s own expectations. But all that is in the past at this point and it-s only a matter of time before chances are turned into goals!

The Roar will be relying on striker Lisa De Vanna to apply the change they need in this department, and it would be fair to say that she will be looking to meet her own personal expectations to score!

This match, which is a replay of the season one grand final, has the makings of a classic–one to be spoken about in years to come! So to all you Westfield W-League fans, get yourselves down to Ballymore this Saturday. You won’t be disappointed!

If you can-t make it down to Ballymore, you-re in luck, as an exclusive highlights show will be played on ABC 1 at 6pm EDST, Sunday 6 February.
