The Westfield W-League makes its first visit to the Sunshine Coast where home side Brisbane Roar will be confident of making short work of winless Adelaide United.
However, recent history indicates that this will not be a one-sided affair. The Roar battled to a somewhat lucky 2-1 win in Adelaide just four weeks ago with the Lady Reds only narrowly failing to collect at least a share of the spoils.
The Roar have little margin for error as the competition approaches the downhill run towards the semi-finals. Last weekend-s fortunate late equaliser for the Roar kept the champions in with a chance of hunting down leaders Canberra, and also second-placed Sydney, and with it a home finals match.
The Roar have suffered some squad upheaval during the course of the season due to injury and players returning from overseas, but now is the time to build momentum with the finals looming on the horizon.
Since Adelaide-s narrow loss to the Roar, the Lady Reds have suffered two heavy defeats conceding eight goals in the process. Last week Dave Edmondson-s charges had the weekend off and the chance to regroup. Now the young squad of predominantly South Australia-raised players face one of the toughest challenges on the Westfield W-League fixture list.

Rarely has a team faced such an incident-packed season as Perth Glory. The loss of half a dozen international players in the off-season was a prelude to being stranded in Canberra for the best part of a week, and having a match postponed due to wet weather in Newcastle while bushfires raged in their home state.
Last weekend, the team suffered a devastating and record-breaking loss, unforseen in its magnitude. Jamie Harnwell-s inexperienced young team fell apart in the face of an onslaught from Sydney-s star-studded roster to concede an astonishing nine second-half goals for an 11-0 scoreline.
The squad must also now do without two of its most experienced players in Emma Kete and Lisa Marie-Woods after their contracts were terminated. To make matters worse, their other import, Englishwoman Katie Holtham, will be out suspended for this weekend. The Glory now must somehow put all that behind them if they are to win this encounter and maintain their play-off ambitions.
The last time the pair met the Victory came away with only a 2-0 win on the opening day of the season although, in truth, the scoreline didn-t reflect the gulf between the teams on that occasion.
Since then the Victory have improved considerably, culminating in an impressive and deserved win against Newcastle Jets last weekend. Another similarly stout defensive showing and fluent attacking display would see the Victory take a giant stride towards a semi-final berth, as they aim to make the most of Newcastle-s weekend off.

Yet another epic Westfield W-League match-up as the unbeaten league leaders host the record-breaking Sydney FC. It is not hyperbole to say the destiny of the premiership will likely be decided during 90 minutes at Deakin this Saturday.
A home victory would see Canberra take a six point lead over their rivals with just three matches to play. Conversely, a Sky Blues win would leave the pair equal, but Sydney enjoying momentum and in the ascendency thanks to their newly impressive goal difference.
The home side though have passed every test that has been thrown their way thus far. A win on the road against Sydney a month ago was followed last weekend by a 2-2 draw against reigning champions Brisbane Roar, who required a late own goal to earn a share of the spoils.
The pair-s tight encounter at Leichhardt a month ago saw goalkeeper Lydia Williams the United hero, but Sydney have improved since then and the Matildas shotstopper will undoubtedly be in for a busy afternoon. Canberra-s cause will not be helped by an untimely one match suspension to skipper and defensive lynchpin Ellie Brush.
Sydney are on a massive high after scoring 19 goals in their past three outings. Coach Alen Stajcic finally had a full squad to choose from last weekend and the embarrassment of attacking riches was there for all to see as the Sky Blues rewrote the record books.
Such was their attacking options, Matildas stars Sarah Walsh and Kyah Simon commenced on the bench, while teenage starlet Caitlin Foord was withdrawn after an hour as she continues her ongoing injury management.
