Three A-Leagues sides lock in pre-season clashes with global sensation Wrexham: Full details

Wrexham AFC will travel Down Under for a series of friendly matches against Isuzu UTE A-League clubs Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix in July.

After a record-breaking three consecutive promotions to reach the EFL Championship this season having shot to global prominence under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham are set to tour Australia and New Zealand.

Marvel Stadium will host Wrexham’s clash with Melbourne Victory on July 11 before taking on Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium on July 15, followed by a trip to Sky Stadium for their meeting with Wellington Phoenix on July 19.

“The summer tour to Australia and New Zealand promises to be the latest chapter in the amazing story of Wrexham Football Club,” Wrexham AFC Co-Chairmen McElhenney and Reynolds.

“Following our record-breaking hattrick of promotions, which will see us playing in the Championship next season, we felt it was time for a new challenge on our summer tour.

“So what better than playing three matches in Australia and New Zealand. It will be a great way for all our Wrexham fans down there to see the team and, anyway, we couldn’t resist signing off with tag line so, Up The Town Down Under!”

Wrexham will travel Down Under having been featured in the popular Emmy award-winning ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ docu-series with Australia ranking as the third-largest audience in the world for the series.

Founded in 1864, Wrexham are the oldest professional football club in Wales, and the third oldest in the world.

They will come up against Victory, who are currently in the Isuzu UTE A-League Semi-Finals, while Sydney FC reached an historic AFC Champions League Two Semi-Final.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wrexham AFC to Sydney,” he said.

The Phoenix, meanwhile, are preparing for 2025-26 after re-signing head coach Giancarlo Italiano.

 “We’re delighted to be welcoming Wrexham to Wellington,” Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome said. “The capital has a proud history of hosting New Zealand’s biggest football events, and this promises to be another unmissable match at Sky Stadium.

“Wrexham have had an incredible rise to the Championship and I know our players can’t wait to test themselves against the Red Dragons.

“I also look forward to catching up with Rob and Ryan over a pint of Wrexham lager at The Welsh Dragon, the only Welsh bar in the southern hemisphere!”
