A Roar reunion, a weekend at Wanderland, Beckham-esque Glory boys… just some of the reasons why we’re pumped for Round 7 of the Hyundai A-League which kicks-off with a Friday night double-header.
Hyundai A-League Round 7 Ins and Outs
1: Bes meets his former besties in the ‘Ange Cup’
It’s the one thing you don’t think of when you sign for a rival club. I’ve got to meet these guys again – and I’ll be their enemy. Bes Berisha will have that feeling on Friday night when he faces his former Roar teammates in a Victory shirt for the first time since his big move south. Will he celebrate if – or when – he scores? Two sides espousing beautiful football – thank you Ange – means this has must-watch written all over it.

2: Nebo and Jamo show
nib Stadium will be packed again as Kenny Lowe’s men expect to extend their lead atop of the Hyundai A-League. Watch out for fouls on the edge of the Phoenix box – Nebojsa Marinkovic and Scott Jamieson are putting on set-piece masterclasses this season, just another reason to enjoy the Glory this year. But be warned, Manny Muscat’s 150th in Phoenix colours might just inspire the Kiwis.

3: Car-crash Jets seek to win at Wanderland
The red and black’s first weekend home game of the Hyundai A-League season and they face a Jets side who put in 45 awful, ghastly minutes in the second half of their “embarrassing” – Phil Stubbins’ words – loss to Roar last week, conceding four times after the break. Wanderers desperately need three points. The Jets are stinging after that loss. Something’s got to give.

4: Ugly City pretty pumped
Melbourne City pin-up boy Erik Paartalu wants to win, and win ‘ugly’ after last week’s capitulation against the Mariners. Expect a fired-up City with Irish duo Liam Miller and Damien Duff, plus in-form striker Mate Dugandzic to tackle a Sky Blues outfit minus injured striker Corey Gameiro. But with Terry Antonis back and buzzing after signing a two-year contract extension this week, here’s a chance to a rising star of football in the visitors’ XI.

5: Gombau’s great goal celebration in Gosford?
Why should Adelaide fans have all the fun? If the Reds score excitable Josep Gombau may just bust out one of his famous pitch runs to celebrate with his players. We love it and it’s time he took his kooky celebrations on the road. The Mariners for their part have steadied their ship after two draws on the road. Cirio (Reds) and Anthony Caceres (CCM) two of the in-form players worth seeing on Sunday on the Central Coast.
