Reno Piscopo will be playing for a rival Isuzu UTE A-League club in 2022-23 after Wellington Phoenix announced his departure.
After three years with the Phoenix, the Melbourne-born attacking star will be plying his trade elsewhere next season.
The 23-year-old, who was signed by Inter in 2011 and spent six years with the Italian giants, made 59 appearances for Wellington, scoring eight goals and supplying eight assists.
Piscopo scored four goals and created three others in 22 games this term as the Phoenix reached the Elimination Final.
“I wish him all the best and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him,” Phoenix head coach Ufuk Talay said of Piscopo, who was coming off contract.
“Reno’s a talented player, which I still believe hasn’t really reached his full potential. I think injuries hindered that potential and talent to come out the last two seasons.
“He’s a good kid, he’s got a great character and I think he’ll have success wherever he goes because I think he has the right tools to do that.
“I think he’s going to be a very good player. I think he’s a really talented player with a lot of attributes that will push him to have a really good career.”
Piscopo’s exit comes on the back of seven first-team departures as Talay prepares to rebuild his squad in Wellington.
Jaushua Sotirio, Gael Sandoval, Gary Hooper, James McGarry, Matthew Bozinovski, Kurtis Mogg and George Ott won’t be returning to the Phoenix next season.
