Westfield W-League stats preview: Round 13

It promises to be another thrilling of action in the Westfield W-League this weekend with four teams still in the hunt for the remaining three spots in the top four.

While Brisbane have already sewn up a finals berth, Sydney FC, Canberra United, Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City are all still looking to seal their place with two rounds to go. 

In the match of the round, Canberra host Newcastle in what’s certain to be an absorbing contest in the nation’s capital.

With plenty on the line this weekend, check out some of the key stats and facts ahead of Round 13.

MELBOURNE VICTORY v SYDNEY FC

*Sydney FC have won the last three encounters with Melbourne Victory, including the last two away from home.

CANBERRA UNITED v NEWCASTLE JETS

*Canberra have beaten Newcastle four times in their last six clashes, with the other two fixtures ending in draws.

*Newcastle have scored first in seven matches this season, winning five of those. In the three matches they conceded first, they lost each time.

*Canberra have scored a combined total of 10 goals in their last two home clashes with Newcastle, conceding just two (5-0, 5-2).

*Brisbane Roar have conceded just nine goals this season, five less than next-best Sydney FC. Shot-stopper MacKenzie Arnold has kept an incredible six clean sheets.

PERTH GLORY v WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS

*Sam Kerr (11) and Rachel Hill (8) have netted an incredible 19 of Glory’s 22 goals this season.

*Glory have won the last three fixtures against Wanderers and have emerged victorious in three straight home fixtures against them.

*Wanderers have scored eight goals this season, with exactly 50% of their strikes coming from set pieces.
