Here’s a look at all four matches in Round 14 with a bite-sized preview of what should be a bumper weekend of Westfield W-League action.
Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory
While this is the only match which won’t have any bearing on the make-up of the Finals Series, it’s always a big clash when South Australia meets Victoria.
The Reds were confirmed as the wooden spooners last weekend but showed how good a side they can be with their performance against league-leaders Brisbane Roar.
Like Adelaide, it’s been an up-and-down season for Victory but Jeff Hopkins’ troops would love to end the campaign on a high with a win on the road.
Newcastle Jets v Melbourne City
It would seem almost inconceivable that back-to-back champions Melbourne City won’t play finals.
But that could very well be the case if City don’t pick up all three points in this one.
And it won’t be easy against a Jets outfit buoyed from booking just the second finals appearance in their history by crushing Canberra 5-1 last weekend.
Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers
The Sky Blues can still mathematically take out the Premiers’ Plate if results go their way, so they’ll be even more motivated against their Harbour City rivals.
Ante Juric’s side is unbeaten in eight games and easily accounted for the Wanderers earlier this season.
But with the chance to stop their neighbours finishing first – or even in the top two – you can be sure the Wanderers will be “up” for this one at Seymour Shaw.
Brisbane Roar v Canberra United
The equation is simple for Brisbane. Avoid defeat at Suncorp Stadium and the Premiership is theirs.
Given their consistent form and star-studded squad, you would expect them to get the job done.
But if City fails to beat Newcastle on Saturday, Canberra can still qualify for the top four with a win, meaning they will be no pushover for the league-leaders.
