It’s a triple header in the Westfield W-League on Sunday with three huge games which could all have ramifications on who makes the Finals Series.
Take a look at today’s three crunch fixtures.
Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City
Rebekah Stott’s late header decided a hard-fought Melbourne Derby in the second round of the season and a similarly tight contest looms at Epping Stadium on Sunday.
City have found form just in time, easing to an encouraging 3-0 victory over Perth Glory last weekend to make it two on the trot.
But don’t expect them to have it all their own way against Victory, who were highly competitive in Brisbane last time out and made their rivals work in the previous derby meeting.
Canberra United v Western Sydney Wanderers
Feasting on six goals against Adelaide was the perfect way for Canberra United to banish the concerns of a three-game losing run.
The focus will now be on turning that morale-boosting result into a sustained run of form as they look to force their way into the top four.
Western Sydney Wanderers present the first tricky obstacle, having proven their fighting qualities across all eight of their matches.
Perth Glory v Sydney FC
This promises to be an absolute blockbuster.
Sam Kerr’s return last round was not enough to lift Perth Glory out of their form slump as a loss away to City made it three without a win.
Sydney, in contrast, are unbeaten in six and know victory in Perth would not only go a long away to securing a top four spot, it would also just about knock the hosts out of Finals Series contention.
