Westfield W-League Goal of the Year: Amy Jackson

An Amy Jackson thunderbolt against Perth Glory in Round 7 has beaten a number of top-draw strikes to take out the Goal of the Season award for the 2019/20 Westfield W-League season.

The Melbourne Victory midfielder scored a brace on that particular night at Dorrien Gardens in Perth; her second of the night came from the goal-line as she headed home an attempt from Rosie Sutton which dropped into her path in the goalmouth, but Jackson’s first of the night couldn’t have been any more different.

Collecting the ball from Hayley Hanson more than 30-yards away from goal Harrison took one touch on her left and unleashed a bullet of a strike which shaved the crossbar as it travelled over the outstretched glove of Perth goalkeeper Eliza Campbell and into the back of the net.

Jackson’s brace was enough for the Victory to clinch a 2-1 victory on that night, and her first of the game was enough to help Jackson clinch the Goal of the Season for 2019/20.

The Victory midfielder beat a raft of excellent strikes to the top honour for the campaign scored by Simone Charley, Natasha Dowie, Princess Ibini, Chloe Logarzo and Tessa Tamplin to be announced as the best out of the 185 goals scored throughout the 2019/20 Westfield W-League season.
