Westfield W-League Goal of Round 5 – Tameka Yallop

Tameka Yallop’s masterful skill and pinpoint finish in Brisbane Roar’s 6-0 thrashing of Melbourne Victory earned the Westfield Matildas gun Goal of the Round honours for Round 5.

It was a memorable day for the Roar, who had been otherwise inefficient in front of goal throughout the 2020/21 Westfield W-League campaign before coming up against Victory.

Yallop’s strike was Brisbane’s second of the night; four more were to follow but none could trump the 29-year-old’s left-footed attempt from outside the box.

In fact, Yallop’s goal proved to be the pick of all goals throughout Round 5. She created the chance out of nothing, turning Lia Privitelli inside out with an inventive chop which changed her momentum from right to left, opening up the space for the shot.

The resulting strike wasn’t venomous but it was precisely placed, as it curled past Gabriela Garton in goal, off the bottom of the left-hand upright and into the back of the net.
