Westfield W-League Goal of Round 13: Michelle Heyman, chosen by Sarah Walsh

Westfield Matildas legend Sarah Walsh has selected Michelle Heyman’s winning goal for Canberra United against Newcastle Jets as the Westfield W-League’s Goal of Round 13.

Heyman’s decisive strike against the Jets helped the Canberra forward secure Goal of the Round honours for the third time running, as she took her goal tally to 10 for the campaign.

Walsh says Heyman’s strike was notable not only for its quality, but for its importance to Canberra’s continued push for a Finals Series place.

“Not only was this the match-winning goal for her team, but also takes Canberra United back into the top four, beating Newcastle Jets,” Walsh said.

“The vision from Grace Maher to hold up the ball, she had the awareness to allow that time for Michelle Heyman to make that run in, to take a first touch and strike it with the second, beating the keeper at the near post.”
